8:02 pm - Hurmmm.... X-men?
|
So now I'm reading- X-men Forever [too much crazy stuff to list] Dark X-men [Norman Osborne shouldn't mess with Mystique. Bad things are gonna happen, plus EvilDr.McCoy :)] New Mutants [this is a total retro trip to me, but it also manages to have a good feel as a followup to the X-force era as well] X-men Legacy [Rogue as younger X-men's tutor, and Daniel Arcuna's art is somethingelse] Uncanny X-men First Class [cheesy allages miniseries title] Ultimate Comics X [ART ADAMS ON AN ONGOING!] Uncanny X-men
Sure there's too many mutants [Decimation clearly did NOT help things], but I've been enjoying the artist choices for X-books lately, love the Dark X-men storyline, and just have a fun time with X-men Forever. I've now sucummed into getting Uncanny X-men, despite not really being a big Greg Land fan [UrGhHhHhH! The light table abuse! Still pretty, but urgh 0_o Did love the Sisterhood though. I hope they find a good way to use Maddie someday], because hey, The Dodsons are the other art team, and it's pretty good either way.
Though between superhero comics, Transformers comics [which I pick up sporadically], webcomics and manga [I buy a ton, and am currently plowing through the library's stuff on top of that], I'm not really reading as many indy comics as I used too. Mostly cause the stuff I really like isn't being published as often.... Diamond's shift to not offering stuff again has also lead to a decrease to me. I dunno. Might pick up something of that sort sometime soon. Though mainstream publishers like Scholastic are offering stuff that's along the lines of what I liked in indy comics anyways.
It seems like Slave Labor and Oni are the only small publishers of the early 00's still around, with Jeff Smith's Rasl and Fantagraphics being the other exceptions. Much of what I see popping up is licensed comics or off-brand superhero stuff [Alex Ross's Project SuperPowers looks cool mind you], so it's a really big change from when I was a kid and you'd see all kinds of stuff in Previews.

10:48 pm - More Harry Potter RPG
|
After testing out the game a bit more, and writing over the least finished game with a new one [it apparently has 3 slots for games], I've now found out that Ron also has a special attack- throwing Scabbers at the enemy. Which is useless [unliked Hermione's lectures, which seem to do something]. And unfortunately, Scabbers escapes unscathed.
The fact that you can collect items by sneaking around peoples houses like in other RPG's is funny, since it's wierd to think of Harry sifting through the Weasley's drawers for stuff, from collectible cards to potions to money. Yeah, stealing from the Weasleys. Bad Harry! [later on, you can also steal from Gringots if you look around the desks]
Earlier, you collect items at Knockturn Alley, until Hagrid catches you, depriving you of learning the dark arts.
This is proving to be a fun game :)

7:23 pm - Be afraid, young Wizard....
|
So I found some spots for used GameBoy games, and now have assorted new GB and GBColour games. Today, I got Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which is an RPG style Harry Potter game, full of special attacks, level ups, item collecting and cute sprites and what not.
And Hermione has a special attack all of her own- A LECTURE ATTACK. You can vary the levels all the way up to 4 or so, way above spells, which means Hermione's smartypants-capabilities exceed anyonelses magical powers, as she nags her team mates into shape. Wow.

More X-men sketches! When I was 14, I thought drawing the X-men would be the most awesome thing ever. Still fun to draw em :)

I really like my new brushpens. They're good for inking sketches
A Bajillion X-men 7 M by ~AndrePaploo on deviantART
It's a lot quicker then how I normally ink. But it's not really something that'd work for inking a comic at the size I do them [8x11].
edit- hmm.. fixed M's colours on DA, but it doesn't change in the embedded version.
current mood: artistic

6:30 pm - JAROO
|
Looks like Cinar has taken it's catalogue and the DIC catalogue it acquired and made a new website, that's like Hulu for kids AND accesible in Canada.
http://www.jaroo.com/watch/emily-of-new-moon
They totally have Emily of New Moon! The most depressing Canadian family show ever, thanks to old Lucy Maude....
http://www.jaroo.com/shows/?show=53&genre= And the Wizard of Oz anime TV series- Warner released the compilation movies that aired on US TV on DVD, but these are the actual episodes, which only aired in Canada.
Looks like some content is country divided, so I'm gonna go poke around

http://www.webcomicsnation.com/andre/mouffettemachine/series.php
Uploaded more pages of my mildly horrid 2001-2003 comic strip Mouffette Machine to my WCN page. More pages should run till the beginning of Dec, though I still have 30 more pages to add after that. I'm planning to do up an epilogue/actual ending of some sort once I run out of pages to upload :) I was close to an ending, but then I started Jeepers.
My carpal tunnel was acting up, plus I'd finished my Halloween strip, so I took Jeepers off this week, though next weeks strip should be fun. I should be back to normal updates after that. Might finish a CW page at some point too- now that I know about the carpal tunnel, I've been pacing myself differently and using a brace, so hopefully it'll help my output.

7:18 pm - COMIX!
|
Decided to start reading X-men Legacy, as I got the annual and liked where it was going. Rogue's new costume and control of her powers are keen additions, though it still has that "Every X-manandlady EVER!" effect I got from reading the Uncanny X-men Sisterhood book. Moving them to an Island doesn't help pthough does make me want to get the Nation-X miniseries too]. But still, should be fun, and with some fantastic art.
Also got some manga, including Vol.6 of Vampire Doll GuiltNaZan- Vol.5 seemed like a final volume [in the "series finished, if not story" sense], but I guess they managed more in Japan. Gestalt and Two Flowers for the Dragon filled it out [I need to read more shonen- it seems I mostly read shojo and seinen series. I am hoping to get Toriko once it starts though.]
Also, allergies bite :(
